Four Counties Ring 1999...

It's a better place to be!

As you can see, I was cruising quite a lot each day. This meant that I didn't spend anywhere near enough time enjoying places like Stone, Penkridge, Brewood, Market Drayton Audlem and the like. Don't get me wrong, I still managed to find the odd drinking hole and I met some lovely people. My favourite "find" was the Anchor at High Offley on the Shropshire Union Canal. This lovely old pub hasn't changed in a hundred years. The bar staff still go down into the cellar with a quart jug to get your ale. Not many pubs like that left now and sadly I reckon the Anchor's days are numbered.
